Interlaced is my first motorized sculpture. Rotating metallic forms interweave each other at different speeds, coming into perfect alignment every 90 seconds or so.

Driven by a single motor, a single timing belt drives timing pulleys of different sizes that then spin the 3D printed fins which are covered in a metallic tape.

A much larger version 2 is in the works and will include counter-rotations and a single rotating dial to show the progress of the entire cycle. The hope is to build this into a product that can be installed in various indoor public spaces.
